AionLabs, a provider of models built for storytelling
AionLabs is a small player that adapts existing open models for roleplay and story writing and serves them through an API. It is not a large lab training its own models from scratch.

A thinly documented organization
AionLabs describes itself as a provider of “intelligence on demand” for creative and production workloads. Corporate details are scarce: the site mentions no founding date, founders or headcount. Its terms of use state that the service is operated by Deep Forge sp. z o.o., a company registered in Warsaw, Poland, and that Polish law applies. AionLabs should therefore be seen as a small outfit whose history is not publicly documented.
Models built on open foundations
AionLabs does not train its models from scratch. It starts from open-weight models released by other labs, then adapts them through fine-tuning or combines them. As of October 22, 2026, its documentation lists:
- Aion 2.0, a variant of DeepSeek V3.2 (see our DeepSeek profile) tuned for immersive roleplay and storytelling;
- Aion 3.0 and Aion 3.5, systems in which several models collaborate, built on the GLM family from Zhipu AI, plus Mini versions;
- Aion-RP 1.0, a variant of Meta’s Llama 3.1 8B and the only model whose weights are published on Hugging Face.
The documentation stresses narrative structure and support for mature themes. The 3.5 versions offer a longer context window, which helps keep track of a story across many exchanges.
How to access them
AionLabs provides an OpenAI-compatible API: developers can reuse existing libraries simply by changing the endpoint and key. The official documentation covers the available models and pricing. Aion models are also listed on aggregators such as OpenRouter. The company additionally offers “email agents”: you send them a task by email (research, drafting, summarizing, data extraction) and they reply the same way.
What sets it apart, and its limits
In practice, AionLabs targets a specific niche, interactive fiction, which the big labs either barely serve or tightly restrict. The trade-off is limited transparency: little is disclosed about the team, the fine-tuning data or the safety guardrails. Before any professional use, read its terms and privacy policy carefully.
