What Grok can do
Grok is a general-purpose AI assistant: it answers questions, writes, summarizes and analyzes files and PDFs. Its signature feature is real-time search across both the web and posts on X, which makes it handy for following a breaking story or checking what people are saying about an event. Keep a critical eye, though: a social network is not a verified source, and AI can produce hallucinations.
Beyond text, Grok offers image generation and short video clips through Imagine, a voice mode, memory across chats, custom instructions and a Canvas workspace for editing documents. The latest model announced by xAI is Grok 4.7, released on September 21, 2026. On the AI agent side, xAI is testing Grok Bot, an agent with its own computer: it is in beta, available as a macOS download and limited to paid plans.
A subscription bundled into X
On October 12, 2026, xAI launched « The X Subscription », which brings Grok, X and even Cursor together in one plan. As of October 22, 2026, the pricing page lists, excluding VAT, Plus at $8 a month, Premium at $30 (SuperGrok, Cursor Pro and X Premium+ benefits), Super at $100 and Ultra at $200. Each tier multiplies usage compared with Plus, from a pool shared between Grok and Cursor that refreshes every week.
In practice, this bundle makes most sense if you already use X or Cursor. If you just want to chat with an AI, compare your options in the AI assistants comparison: the free tier may be enough for occasional use.
Privacy and availability in Europe
xAI documents two useful controls. The « Improve the model » setting lets you opt out of training on your conversations, and Private Chat deletes them within 30 days. A Europe-specific addendum supplements the privacy policy, which was last updated on October 11, 2026. Data residency is mentioned only for the Enterprise plan.
